So how do you feel about the election outcomes?

Lets talk about the election results. Anyone happy? Pissed?

Personally I was a little surprised by the Democratic sweep, but it made me happy that people are obviously uncomfortable with the direction we're heading in. I saw more than a few posts on my net surfs from Republicans that voted Democrat for the first time in their lives. Maybe some changes will begin.

Who knows though? It could just be same shit different day.

The two measures that I was most interested in were Measure 42, which would have prevented insurance companies from using credit ratings as an excuse for higher premiums, and the Springfield school district levy. Measure 42 was slammed down, which kind of surprised me. It makes me believe that the lower income population are less likely to vote. That was one of the measures that ensured I would be at the polls come hell or high water. I had dicey credit at one time, but I have never been in an accident, and I've had maybe two speeding tickets in my life, in my teens. I believe it's just another way for insurance companies to bend people over, and I'm disappointed that the population that would have benefited from Measure 42 obviously didn't turn out to vote. Maybe they couldn't drive to the polls 'cause they can't afford the insurance on their cars??

I was very happy that the Springfield school levy passed. Having a child that just began Kindergarten, I am really starting to understand that the kids are the future. I know that's a line from a crappy 80's song but it's true. If our kids are stupid and fat, what the hell good is that going to do us in the future? All a country that wants to take us down 20 years from now has to do is look at our kids, and dump big money into their kids. I look at the great job my childs school is doing, with insufficient materials, and I think, imagine what these schools can do with some real money.

And that, dear readers, is my excessively simple understanding of the recent elections. I know that I'm not prepared to go to battle with People That Really Know Their Stuff, but fortunately everyone gets to vote, even people that aren't hugely political, like myself.
